Chemical Peel 101

Who are peels for?

Chemical peels are for everyone. Whether your skin is dry, oily, combination or even sensitive, there is a chemical peel treatment that will work for you.

What do peels improve?

Chemical peels are safe and effective in improving and preventing most skin conditions: aging, acne, discoloration, sensitive skin/rosacea.

Why do I need a peel?

Our skin naturally exfoliates, gently shedding dead skin cells so subtly that most of us don't even notice. However, as we age, this process tends to slow, resulting in a dull complexion.

How do peels work?

Chemical peels speed up the exfoliation process, encouraging cell turnover that leaves the skin looking fresh and healthy. The result is exfoliation after a treatment, often seen in the form of peeling or flaking that lasts a couple of days. Ingredients in the peel solution are also working to create new cells that function properly, not only visibly improving the skin, but correcting from within.

When do I get a peel?

Chemical peels are usually recommended once a month, paralleling that skin's natural 28- day cell turnover process for the best results. Depending on your skin concern, your aesthetician may recommend them more or less frequently. PCA SKIN chemical peels have little to no downtime, allowing for treatments that won't disrupt your schedule.

What are the benefits of a peel?

Chemical peels have a large number of benefits, some that can be noticed, and some that subtly occur under the surface of the skin. Reduced fine line and wrinkles. Controlled oil production and fewer breakouts. Diminished discoloration and a more even skin tone. Reduced inflammatory response. Increased cell turnover process. Overall brightened skin tone. Softer, smoother skin.

Is there hope for my thin- over tweezed BROWS?

Yes, there is hope for anyone who has very thin or over-tweezed eyebrows.  I’ve worked with the faces of Orange County for over 20 years and I’ve seen hundreds of cases like yours.  It takes time, patience, and the right guidance to fuller and more natural looking eyebrows.

I recommend that you put your tweezers down or hide them if it’s necessary, don’t use scissors to trim your brows (leave that to a professional) and just allow your brows to grow out completely.  My clients who need corrective work on their brows due to over-tweezing usually use products to assist them in the growing out process.  Using a product that helps stimulate hair growth and strengthen your existing hair is essential in the growing out process; it speeds up your chances to fuller eyebrows.

Key steps to remember is- not to tweeze every day, you want your eyebrow hair to remain in the same stage of hair growth and don’t tweeze course gray hairs.  Tweezing grays can leave gaps. Trimming is a proper key to polished brows, but leave it to a professional, and lastly don’t be shy to use brow makeup to shade in eyebrows

My product of choice due to the results I’ve seen with my own eyes is Revitabrow is clinically proven to stimulate the natural growth of the brows.  For as long as the hair roots are not permanently damaged the hair will grow and attain their maximum length.  Some of the factors which may damage the hair roots are severe alopecia, burns, tattoo or severe plucking. It normally takes2- 4 weeks  to see the positive result of the products.  However, due to some reasons, it may take a longer period of time for others to notice the result.
